Just wondering how many round bales of straw are meant to be in a big square bale roughly??

Bought 1 square few weeks ago at E40,so i need more soon for feeding and bedding.I have heard there are 2 rounds in a big square.

Also how many small square bales are in a round bale,i have heard 10,12..

Whats best value do ye think??

    What prices are ye given??

    Thanks

What size are you talking about, there could be 2.5 round bales in a big sq bale. Best thing to do is weigh a few. There is a big variation in round baler bales!

Simple way to weigh is put them up on top of a diet feeder.

In a 8x3x2 square bale on average there is one round bale plus 1-2 small square bales.

i am selling 8x4x3 bales of very dry wheaten straw for e25, cash on collection.
there are about 330 kg weight or 2 round bales of similar straw.
biggest advantage is haulage cost is nearly halved as you can carry more tons,

If you want value for money, why not ask can you buy straw by weight. This way it dosnt matter what size bale you get. We deliver straw all over Munster, rounds and big squares for a price between €125 - €130 per tonne depending on distance we have to travel. All loads come with a weighbridge docket. It seems the fairest way to me.
