    Hi,
After doing some running this week but now the base of my shin (where shin meets foot) is sore.

Why is this? And any suggestions on how to cure/prevent?

    Thanks.

You probably have shin splits, caused by high impact training, excessive training, poor technique or flat feet. It is very hard to get rid of without going to see a physio. Otherwise rest it and ice it, also anti-inflammatory medicine.

    RICE

    R-Rest
    I-Ice
    C-Compression
    and
    E-Elevation

Throw in P at the top, P - Prevention.

I cannot diagnose you, but been a distance runner, it sounds like shin splints. Are you waering the correct footwear for your height? Are you increasing mileage too much too soon?

Rest, see a physio if needs be.

Yup. Not sure whats causing it. Went to go for a run this evening. Only 0.5mile in got shin splints bad. Had to stop.
I stretched my calves well beforehand so not sure why got them. Run earlier in week was 5km. Felt fine during that.
Any stretching tips for it? And any other recommendations?

    Thanks.
