Just wondering which of the new phones/tablets announced you would buy, if we get them over here. Unfortunately a lot of the announcements are so called 4G devices.

The Motorola Airtrix looks pretty good, but I am a bit disappointed that none of the dual core phones so far have NFC capability. If it doesn't go into a lot of phones, people won't develop compatible hardware/apps

HTC seem to make their announcements at MWC in February, so maybe well see a Qualcomm dual core chip

Motorola Xoom looks to have a nice UI, and more likely we'll see it here, I have no idea what price though.

looking forward to the airtrix myself, looks pretty cool especially with a 1,930mAh abttery (except if it is needed cause the phones uses that much power). Truthfully I think most of the good phones like the airtrix and the 2X although classed as "4G" devices are fine to work here. I think it is AT&T phones that work here.

As to tablets I'm really liking the playbook which is a surprise but that mainly due to the fact that nothing is running Honeycomb so you can't see the difference it will make (I know there is one tablet engadget got with it but it looks like an early beta version more then anything else)

Google demoed there Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) OS for tablets and it looks pretty awesome.

Iv been following the HTC tablet and while the specs look amazing its supposedly going to cost $750+ which is a pretty big pill to swallow.

Came across this browsing around Engadget.

It's the Motorola Atrix 4G, HD multimedia dock, and laptop dock. Essentially the various docks along with cloud computing turn the phone into a fully fledged computer and also a multimedia system. Ignoring the glitch at the end of the video :o, it's truly some impressive tech.

I would have say the Xoom stole the show, god I'd do anything to get that!

While its a pretty cool set of features how many people will actually buy those docks (50-150 quid) ?

I have to say I could be tempted they look cool, mightn't exactly work on this generation of phones but a basic desktop replacement phone isn't too far off

Have to say the atrix has been my highlight of the show for me

Don't know if this is really the best place to post about this device, but hey it's promising Android.

Recon Instruments is announced these Ski/Snowboard googles with HUD, GPS, Accelerometer (Did you really do that 540˚ jump), Android and Bluetooth (connect to smartphone), will allow you see where you're buddies who also forked out are on the slopes.

I thought it all sounded a bit fantastical, but the previously announced version (without android) went on sale in October

Looks pretty cool, $429 for the current pair on the steep side, but hopefully this will come down over the next 18months (during which time I won't be able to afford to go skiing anyway :( )

Yeh, it's certainly not for your average user. You'd need to at least have an interest in such gadgets and a certain amount of disposable income to warrant buying such tech.
That said though, if cloud computing ends up replacing computers as we know them today then I'd expect to see systems like the Atrix become more popular and maybe even cheaper. Not going to happen anytime soon but I still think the concept has some merit.
