the iphone has an sms app called Messages, or you can leave a visual voicemail by calling the number

use the copy and paste function

presuming your a payg customer, and out of credit, have you tried the webtext apps, for extra texts, 250-333 texts a month, check out eirtext or jellysms on the app store, free and & pro versions available

Who are you with Bob Z?

With O2 its as simple as- *103*Number# then save this as eg. Call me-Name in your contacts.

Just checked my 3GS with o2 and there's no such option.

10 digits isn't that taxing is it? Take a screenshot of the contact information and double press the home button to change back and forth from photos to number input if you really have to. Or write the bloody thing down.

How about saving two numbers? One to send a call me and one for normal use?
