    03 golf making noises as i turn steering wheel extreme left or right..any ideas what that is?? bushings or what? noise coming from down by the wheels?

    rubbing, screeching, banging?

    rubbing but could it be down to having an 18" alloy on 1 side of the front and the spare on the other side the past 3 months...probably not a good idea!

    probably wouldnt be doing the car any favours. i couldnt throw a good guess at what could be happening but that will help someone else figure it out

    like my cars but wouldnt know much about the mechanics.. axle bushings or something maybe thanks anyway

    Have you checked the level of the power steering fluid?
    If it's too low there may be noises coming from the pump.

    got a proffessional opinion today and he put it down to the fan belt tensioner...steering fluid is fine

    the alternator pully in these are clutch pully's and they seize after a while and you can hear a shuddering screching noise when you lock the steering to any side ,you can get the pully changed in a garage or autoelectriction,common fault.

    I sometimes also get a squeak on full left lock and when I googled it it was down to a power steering belt slipping. Not meant to be anything majorly bad though.
