Anyone got any recommendations on where to go to learn navigation for adventure racing?
Thinking it would be good to learn some stuff about identifying features, using compass, devising routes - that kind of stuff :D
Might be useful even if I dont use it for racing.
    Cheers

Keep an eye on the IMRA site Fi, there was mention of navigation courses there last year anyway.

You'll find some useful info if you run a search in the Outdoor Pursuits forum.

The mountains are so much more enjoyable if you can navigate competently.

Best of luck with the Art O Neill ;)

Nathan Kingerlee at Outdoors Ireland does nav courses and mountain skills courses.

    Top bloke.

Mountain SKills 1 and 2 courses on offer.

We organized a Mountain Nav Course through Boards before, given by Paul Nolan and Izzy Lemee, it was highly informative and a great success.

Paul has kindly offered to host a similar course for Boards in the coming months, (date to be finalized), to be held somewhere in Wicklow. Details and signup when we get closer to a fixed date. Cost, as before, would be a €5 donation to Mountain Rescue (100% raised will go to them).

Lots of advice here - thanks guys
Cheers Git101 - sitting here looking at the rain out the window and wondering what I was thinking signing up - but excited for the adventure! :D
If I survive and dont swear off adventure then I will definitely be taking a nav course next!
