    Hy folks

Just looking for a bit of help...Im looking for a decent bike computer with heart rate monitor and cadence sensor...

Iv come across the garmin 305 and have seen a few polar ones too but no idea which is better or which would be better value for money...

Would appreciate any help from those of you who can recommend a good one!

It's actually slightly less than that! I just took delivery of one (incl HRM and CAD) from Handtec today and total on my credit card incl delivery was € 218.70! :) Really looking forward to getting out and using it now!

    Lads
What does the 500 offer over the 305?
Colour screen and power meter compatabilty. Or is there a bit more?
The 305 is an amazing bit of kit.
    Cheers
    Marty.

I had a 305 I was using up until yesterday.

305 is better if you're both running and cycling, especially with the pack for quick switching between the bike and your wrist! I agree it's a great piece of kit and I loved having it the past 12 months.

500 doesn't have a colour screen, but you can fit more onto it. Up to 8 fields on each screen! :) It's also compatible with them power yokies as you mentioned, has a built-in altimeter (not sure if other one does), displays the temperature and I think in general the functionality is more designed for bikes. I think it may also have better battery life and pick up signal quicker. It also has nice features like reminding you when you (re-)start moving so you never forget to click start again after a break! No doubt there are other benefits, but that's as much as I've figured out so far. I was thinking of just buying a cadence sensor for my 305, but the brand new 500 pack cost less than € 220 and I sold the 305 for € 120, so it wasn't too much more for a shiney new toy!:D

You can display 8 fields on the 305 screen aswell...thats how i have mine setup and i can toggle between two displays whilst riding each having 8 different data fields displayed.(in fact after doing a bit of googling they both have the exact same screen)
The 305 also has a barometric altimeter...it doesnt have current temperature or power meter though.
The 500 also has some auto scroll function so it jogs between different data fields as you move along (all customisable i imagine)

Very little between them at the end of the day.
    Rgds,

:oJust remembered there's also an Edge 305! I have (had) a Forerunner 305 so was confusing them both! My comparison is irrelevant to this discussion!:o From what I can tell, the unit of the 305 looks to be a lot bigger than the 500 though!
