Is this the mix branded as Buffalo beef nuts? If so, I've been feeding it for a couple of years and am finding it very good to put condition on cattle and they seem quite fond of it. About €240 or so a ton I think at present...

I was using it from Stewarts up to 2 years ago. They have good quality feed. I suppose you could say I was poached by Patton feeds - they offered me consistently better prices and just as good of quality as Stewarts. You should price them.

Pattons are based in Monaghan. I've been getting a cheaper 3 way mix from them in the last 12 months, but before that they were beating the high maize mix that I was getting from stewarts in both price and quality. I'm only a few miles from Stewarts and Pattons deliver an awful lot in this area, but I know that Stewarts have a big customer base in Monaghan so its unusual. Pattons have a great REP in this area. He has an interest in cattle. Every time he comes, he loves to look at the cattle and advise on how and what we should be feeding. He has some great tips and ideas- and he's not just trying to sell more feed - he had a genuine interest. The even better thing about him is that if you pay within 30 days, he's usually able to knock about €15 per ton off your quoted price.

I'd advise you to ring Pattons, tell them what you're looking for and see if they can beat the price you have. I bet they will and sure isn't all about shopping around to save money.

I'm feeding upwards of 6kg per day, but they seem slow enough to put on condition, even with very good silage. The Patton stuff sounds interesting.
