Amazon always send these emails. its not a sale in particular. These are the prices they always sell them at. Amazon can tell what you browse on their site and then email you again and again telling you that the item is 50% off.

Its 50% off RRP and nowadays id say about 1% of products are ever sold at RRP. I think the RRP of most playstation 3 games is 70 Euro. Iv never bought a PS3 game for that much but shops can mark a game as 50% off if its 35 euro.

And a simple look at that shows me that a philips electric shaver i got in argos before Christmas is about 20€ dearer there on Amazon. Fair enough, the argos one was on offer at the time but dont just assume the amazon will be cheaper than from a shop

+1 They really do track everything you look at on their website and then harass you to buy it with this type of promotional e-mail making out that there's a 'sale' on, treat with extreme scepticism.

I had to unsubscribe when I realised that every time I looked at item on their website I got an e-mail the next day telling me it was now on special offer.

A few weeks ago someone here posted a link to a great page that tells you whether it's a real "sale" or just some advertising stunt. Simply copy the URL from the amazon.co.uk product page into http://uk.camelcamelcamel.com and it shows you the price over the recent weeks/months.

Terrific site, just used it to track one of the offers and it came back with

    amazon-new.png?force=1&zero=0&w=795&h=440&desired=false&legend=1&ilt=1&tp=3m&fo=0

    for the following product
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003M2WWKE/ref=s9_simh_gw_p364_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=15HBG1AVBYYZKFMFPDZD&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467128533&pf_rd_i=468294

While they are correct in that it is 25% cheaper, that reduction is based on their 2009 prices.

Seems like December 18th was the time to buy. Having said all this I have invisible hand and this is the cheapest price, next one is Argos at £204

Its cheaper in Harvey Norman's, prefer in any case to support an Irish Aussie company :D
