Found on HKUD and thought it worth passing it on.

    Buy it on Play.

The last one I read was 1978 edition I think and my lasting memory is the fat twins on motorbikes.

These are always beasts of books..

.. it'll probably cost Play more to post it! :D

This year's edition is just a slip of paper with a URL and access code. :D

Prepare yourself for a big disappointment, I bought the 2007 & 2008 editions secondhand off adverts.ie - what a load of b***cks. It has descended into now just being a chronicle of stunts performed for TV.

If you want to read about the largest number of simultaneous (insert mundane everyday activity here) performed in one place, go ahead and buy it. If you want to read about meaningful records in sport and science, pick up the 78 edition.

Please tell me it lists the worlds tallest man and stuff like that as well the stupid stuff.

It was the 1981 edition, I can remember the cover. Its on ebay for a few quid. A lot of the records would be outdated though.

I did a quick scan of the 2007 volume....

They do cover the headline records like oldest, tallest, heaviest man, woman etc. However here's a flavour of how the older stuff has been squeezed out to make way for the freaks and TV stunts....

There is a total of four pages on Athletics of which one is about marathons (including the fastest pram-pushing marathon) followed by a page dedicated to half-marathons, including the fastest backwards-running half-marathon. This means that all track and field athletics records excluding the marathon are squeezed into two pages.

Most expensive slice of toast? Most number of bungee jumps by an individual in one hour? It's all one big freak show, save your money and keep the 78 edition.
