My personal preference would be Grid roller

    or domestic http://www.physioproducts.ie/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=288

they cost more but really worth extra money IMO

Thanks, I'll be progressing to the grid if the roller works out ok. I only had a little play around on one in November. Not 100% sure if I'll stick it, so I thought the cheaper version might be better.

IrishFit are just around the corner from me now in Ballyogan. So nice and handy.

Have you used them for a while?

5 months on and the thing is still in one piece (heavy usage )

very happy with the quality of the product

I bought a grid foam roller, good job happy with it. Then one day I spotted an old piece of pipe from a drain, 3-4 inches in diameter and same length as grid one.

Started using it, just as good, but obviously hard. Wouldnt recommend for beginners as I know how sore it was starting off foam rolling but its a cheap alternative to the grid one, when you need to upgrade.

Could go to the hassle of doing this also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IqyVa4Z4m3E

+1 for the grid, i found that my foam rollers got very soft (and so useless) over time

    Thanks guys.

Mine arrived this morning. I phoned IrishFit, apparently the foam rollers last up to around 3 months (depending on use) then either get a new one or progress to the grid. So I guess I've got a 3 month trial.

    Wish me luck.

Been using the roller twice a day. I'm soooo glad when I put the thing away. It hurts. Either I was really tense or I'm not using it right. hahaha. Not as bad now as on the first day, it was like having a really deep massage. Ouch. Another few days and the stinging should giveway to improved movement - i'm promised.

Mod Note: As an fyi BobbyJohn was shilling for the IrishFit company so his experiences with their products might just be a tad biased :)

Have tight calves and hanstrings, stretch every day. Is the grid for me?

Thanks for that. I'll pick up a few for the gym, as well as one for myself.

    Cheers,

    Paul
