Job hunting advice

I am a recent graduate and struggling to find work (not alone here I know). I have a 1.1 honours degree and 2.1 Masters degree in business related subjects (complimenting each other) and although I have had some great feedback from companies and interviews I think it is my lack of experience that is finishing me off at the last stage. I would like to gain more experience but its very hard to even get that chance at the moment.

Although I have lived and worked abroad I do not want to move away at this time to find work. I wouldnt mind working for free but It would mean borrowing from my parents to cover expenses etc. On job seekers I am only entitled to 40 euro which doesnt go far once I put petrol in my car. I have applied for so many jobs, both advertised and not. I have also contacted companies where I know people are leaving to go travelling etc and talked to contacts I have who are trying to put a word in for me regarding grad programs in the coming months.

has anyone advice on what else I could do?
    Thanks in advance

Would you qualify for a graduate placement program? The pay isn't good, but its a great way to get some experience.

I have applied for the coming grad progs for this year (microsoft, paddy powers etc) but im also aware just how competitive they are with thousands of students fighting for the spots.

I have just been asked by a great company if I would like to interview for a position they have (they hadnt advertised it) and should be hearing back next week so fingers crossed.

If that doesnt go well I will prob start offering to work for free for companies. Is there any sites that link companies and people looking for internships?

Are you using Twitter and LinkedIn to find opportunities, this was tweeted about earlier it may interest you http://www.dhr.ie/2011/01/06/we-are-recruiting-a-pr-intern/.

PS I don't work for the company just came up on twitter feed today. I have seen more entry roles appear on twitter over last few weeks, I would get on it and start following businesses you are interested in.

I am on twitter and Linkedin but not using them that much. Il be sure to give them a shot in terms of scoping out job opportunities. Thanks for the great advice and that link :)
