Plastic melted in pan

Heating up a pudding today, having been distracted for a short moment we noticed that the plastic pudding bowl had melted to the base of the pan. Thankfully, much of the pudding is ok!

Has anyone successfully removed melted and hardened plastic from a pan like this before?

Try heating it up then shocking the base of the pan in cold water - so dunk the outside of the pan into a sink of cold water. Then cold inside - the rapid cooling of the plastic might separate it from the pan.

Housemate did exactly the same thing last year. We left it outside to be dumped, it filled up with rain water, which froze. Went to bin it on bin day and the ice had lited the melted plastic. Still use the pot to this day

Thanks folks, will try those tomorrow (when there's room in the freezer, and can ventilate the kitchen!)
