Horrible Buzz From Audio Recording In Vista

Can't figure this one out. Hopefully someone around here can help me! I'm using Windows Vista to record audio. Anyway when I record any reasonably long piece of audio, after a few minutes a horrible buzz starts and continues until the end of the recording. It happens with both Cool Edit and Wavepad. Has anyone had this problem before? It's very annoying to say the least.

Move to Dublin and change it to a Deadly Buzz! ;)

    What are you recording from?

I remember getting something similar when recording into a laptop, ideally you need a sound card

If there's a delay it could be a heat thing, but its unlikely, or it could be the buffer filling up./

Try recording at a lower bitrate.

try recording without the power lead in if your using a laptop, if that works then get a socket adaptor and snap the earth from it and use that to power your laptop

I don't think it's an earth problem. I can hear the earth when it's plugged in, but it's very low. It's not an earth hum that's the problem. It's a buzzing that is directly proportional to the current level of sound. It seems to form an echo for a few seconds. If I record audio, then stop playing it but keep recording the silence, the buzz continues for a few seconds into the silence then stops. It seems to be a problem with how Vista is handling the sound.

Are you heavily amplifying the signal?
