I am doing the usual new year review of my bills and outgoings and I am looking for a replacement for my Eircom Phonewatch alarm. I want to have a monitoring alarm, but something that is cheaper than Phonewatch. Any suggestions?
Or is there a website to compare house alarm options and services?

The cheaper option would be to monitor the alarm yourself. PW are not the only company that monitor alarms. If you look at the PSA website you will get a list of all the monitoring stations plus they will have installers in most locations. If you have a PW system installed already then depending on the alarm this could be easily set up to save you the extra expense every year. If on the other hand you dont have any alarm system installed then the best advice is to ring a few alarm company's in your location and get prices of systems plus prices of options of having the alarm self monitored or monitored by a monitoring station.

Thanks for the reply altor. I am in the south of Dublin city centre and I have PH in & working at the moment. I am debating about whether to have it monitored or not. Don't some alarm companies have an option where they text or call with a recorded message to you & your key holders and the Gardaí are not contacted, would that be cheaper than PH?

Thats correct robo depending on the alarm you have installed. Do you know the alarm you have installed ?

Many security companies offer monitoring for less then eircom PhoneWatch. Expect anything around €150 per year. Shop around for the best deal and check if 2 services are included in the price?

Edit: You do have the ability to monitor it your self where you receive a text/call (depends on your system) on an alarm activation as mensioned.
