Who will transport jewellery abroad?

I need to send jewellery abroad but can't get any of the regular shipping companies to do this. DHL and TNT gave me an outright 'no' to shipping any jewellery. Fedex will only insure jewellery up to a max of $1000 or £600. The item is valued at quite a lot more than the euro equivalent of €1000 on our home insurance.
Has anyone any experience of sending jewellery abroad? I need to get repair work carried out by a jeweller in Antwerp on a ring and it's looking like my only way of getting the ring there is to fly over and back myself.

    Ask the jeweller.

Their idea was to use a courier service but not tell them what was in the package. For obvious reasons I'd rather not do that, but thanks for the suggestion.

Try contacting Speedlink. IIRC, I've used them a few times professionally to ship expensive items of jewellery and you'll have to provide them with documentation as regards value of the item/s being shipped etc but they should be able to do it for you. Sorry, I'm not in work at the moment (on leave) so can't check for sure but I think thats the company we used.

You could ring Seamus Fahy in Voltaire Diamonds and ask him who he uses.

Thats odd because I double checked and its definitely speedlink I've used before when DHL and UPS refused to ship jewellery.
