I went to the doctor yesterday complaining of headaches, muscle cramps and insomnia. Turns out that I'm not drinking enough fluid to compensate for the loss in training. Im doing about an hour a day of intensive training 5/6 times a week. How much water should I be drinking?

About 6 pints, I think, but more maybe with all of the exercise you're doing.

Dehydration would be the last thing I'd worry about if it was number 8.

Lol. You know you can't print it in Black and white, right? :)

The problem with those charts is if you take the vitamins (as mentioned) they screw estimates up. To avoid this false result, a good rule of thumb: if your wizz smells like a bag of meanies, drink a pint of water.

Unfortunately those charts are useless if you drink beetroot juice or eat real beetroot, your pee is always pink:D

I can be a bit obsessive about pee coulour. Even when I'm not drinking as much water as I usually do it's still fairly light yellow. I often drink too much and end up with water like urine.

I don't really track fluid consumption, but I'd guess it's around 1.5 to 2 litres per day, more on long run days. I weigh myself before and after long runs, and make sure the weight is back on within a day or so (it's not unusual for me to lose 1kg per hour on a run).

I also use the tried and trusted "colour" method as already described.
