Pixmania horror story

Just a warning to anyone considering ordering a tv with Pixmania. I ordered a tv on Dec 6 for Christmas. Got my confirmation email telling me that the order had been dispatched a few days later. In the email it said that I would be contacted by their delivery agent to arrange a delivery time.
First I heard from them was on Dec 13 at 2pm when a driver rang to say he was outside the house. I was at work, so I asked if they could either wait, or re-deliver another day. He said they would deliver it after 3pm the following day.
Next day, I leave work early and wait at home. At 6pm, still no sign, so I rang Johnston Logistics, the delivery agent. They said that there was no record of the order going out that day. I complained and they said they were still waiting on Pixmania to authorise a re-delivery. They also said that it's not their policy to ring people in advance . I explained to the girl that I work in town, and would not be home during the day. However, if I get a few hours notice I can pop home, or arrange for someone else to be there when it arrives. She assured me that they would not re-attempt delivery without first contacting me.
On Dec 22, Pixmania contacted me directly, asking me to confirm my phone number. The following day I checked the tracking number online to find that they had again attempted delivery on the 22nd, again without calling ahead.
I finally got through to Johnston Logistics today, who told me that the unit has been sent back to Pixmania. As it now stands, I have yet to receive any communication from Pixmania regarding a new delivery date, or to offer a refund. Right now, they have my money, and I have no tv.
To anyone considering ordering with Pixmania, be warned that their delivery process is a complete shambles. :(

They also said that it's not their policy to ring people in advanc

This must be one of the stupidest policies I have ever heard from a delivery company.
I wouidn't order appliances online from a firm that doesn't have a shop in the country. For the sake of a few quid saving it would make it very unlikely for situations like this to occur or if anything goes wrong it would be easier to sort out rather than ringing or e mailing someone

That option doesn't really exist for most large websites.

Also that is ****ing bull****... all couriers I've had, have rang ahead.
If no call is involved they leave a little call card to say what time they'll be back at....
Get peoples names when you call customer supports or when delivery guys call.
That way you have someone to pin it too.

This doesn't look like pixmania's fault at all... rather an awful delivery company. I ordered a beanbag on the 17th of December... on a friday and I got a call on monday from the guy before he left the depo, I thought I was screwed as I wasn't going to be home for a few hours and so I asked could he leave it in my shed? he said he'd have to call the office. 3mins later calls me back, apologies profusely while asking if tomorrow at same time was ok.. I said yeah and lo and behold on tuesday he turned up on the button. Think it was Nightline or 'Knightline' something like that.... but yeah that's about the biggest problem I've ever had with a courier.

Get in touch with pixmania detailing what the courier has done.
Most buisnesses don't like couriers ****ing up, so something like that may change their mind on who they deal with.

I'd have my suspicions that the weather during christmas played an ugly role in this.

I said it didn't exist for most 'large' websites... while DID and (currys/pcworld merger thingy) have a decent site... that leaves powercity.. I think a 5 year old designed that site about 10 years ago. I'm talking about large websites that offer much greater choice ie amazon, ebay, and pixmania. That are international websites with thousands of orders a day but no store presence. People pick them over store presence sites all day every day with no problems, and when there is a problem, a decent company handles it very quickly usually.

I agree with the point your making, I order from Komplett all the time, because I can pay at the pick up point, but worrying about a courier shouldn't be a deciding factor on something.

Besides that, the difference is generally not a 'few quid' but rather a few hundred. This situation is not the result or fault of buying from company without a store in Ireland. It's because some ****ing useless courier was used by the company.

Anyways XD back on topic a bit TS, the christmas season holidays and weather more then likely screwed you over on this occassion. Hope you get that tv ;D

Cheers guys. I have contacted Pixmania, still waiting to hear back on whether they are sending another tv, or refunding my money. I have also told them to look very closely at who they use as their delivery agent in Ireland, as the behaviour of Johnston Logistics has been very poor in this case. I will update the thread when I hear more.

I got two TV's from Pixmania in November a 50 inch Plasma and a 22 inch LED LCD.

They arrived in five days, Johnston Logistics called me to make sure there was someone at home.

Going through Pixmania I saved a few hundred Euro.

I too have ordered products from Pixmania (and other companies) which have ben delivered by Johnston Logistics. I didn't find Pixmania overly efficient but I would have to commend Johnston's as the most professional delivery company I have EVER dealt with!
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, efficient service, accurate delivery time, phonecall in advance and the delivery driver even carried my TV (50 inch) into my sitting room as it was quite heavy!
Perhaps you had one of those "1 in a million" bad experiences? but I have to say I found them excellent to deal with on 3 different occasions.
Still, pixmania would want to get their act together on response times by the sound of it.

In a similar situation, Pixmania are crap, ordered a 50" off them last Friday, when I checked the tracking details they had the address as County Mayo in stead of County Clare, I rang them but they said that seeing as the TV was in transit they could not change the address and gave me the numbers for Dascher and JOhnson Logistics in Dublin. Then I got an e-mail from them saying they had requsted for the TV to be sent back to France so they could send to the correct address. I rang them and asked them why the hell they were doing that as I would have rang Dublin to change the address when it arrived in Ireland. I was speaking to some french girl who kept insisting that the TV had to go back to France and the it would be redelivered to... wait for it .... COUNTY IRELAND , at this point I lost the plot and asked for a supervisor. I spoke with an engligh guy called Lee who sorted my address and said that the TV would still be attempted to be delivered to me before it is sent back to France. So I rang Johnson logistics yesterday morning who said that my TV was out for delivery to Clare Island County Mayo, I said no wrong address so she said that she would arrange for the delivery for Monday to my correct address. Phew I will believe it when I see it but I really hope I see it on my new stand Monday after work. Fingers Crossed :o

Hopefully it gets to you Spence. County Ireland? Typical France Continent.

Yeah this a major problem in Ireland with stuff delivered from overseas.

    Why?

Because we don't have any bloody post codes outside of Dublin.

I've had the same problems with stuff from komplette and others because of this.

No I got this one http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/5090013/art/lg/50pk350-plasma-tv.html heard great reports about the telly plus it will go with my LG surround system it's

On the last point I agree it's time we all got post codes but I think that's happening soon if I'm not mistaken

Can you believe you can get a 50 inch 1080P Plasma for €600.

I won't hold my breath getting postcodes where I live, our town doesn't even have gas.

Not a bad choice, the LG's definitely seem more reliable plasma's than the similarly priced Samsungs.

Sure, you wont get the last word in black levels but the excellent uniformity plasma will bring will definitely help!

I have bought several things off of Pixmania and I have never had problems with them. The one delivery company I always have problems with is Fastway. I buy a lot of things from chainreaction cycles (bike store in the north) and they used to use Fastway. I live on the border between Kildare and Meath so my post goes to Meath but courier goes to Kildare. and when I check my trackings my stuff has been sent to Antrim, Carlow, Donnegal and Galway. Carlow is the favourite spot for them it always seems to go there.

Telly arrived yesterday Johnston logistics were actually very good, excellent on the phone and courier arrived as promised. TV is amazing been playing around with settings and think I have it just right now. Hooked up my new Sony bd370 to it but that damn thing has to go back to argos really loud high pitched noise when playing a disk. Aw it's always something but seems like a well known issue after doing a google search. Think I will go for a LG bd560 instead.

I'm trying to order from Pixmania today and I need delivery before next weekend, so I was going to pick their Express Delivery of 2 - 3 days.

But when I get to the order page, it doesn't give me the option to choose delivery method - it just has "fast delivery" with a company called Dachser, which is 6 - 7 days, which is no good to me.

What gives? Why can't I choose delivery method?

Not all delivery methods are available to every country.

yeah I think they only use one courier company for large item deliveries liek TV's , Power City are selling this TV for €669 now at the moment so that would be a better bet and you would probably get it by the weekend.
