am i being screwed on my tax

    hi...recently started a job in public sector....gross is 3333 per mth.......getting about 2400 into my hand....seems a lot to be paying in tax....am i still on emergency tax? thks

    Surely your pay slip explains what you are paying?

    You are liable for tax, PRSI, income and health levies (payable in 2010, replaced by Universal Service Charge in 2011) and also the public sector pension levy.

    Yes, you are getting screwed on tax.

    But you can take comfort that so are the rest of us! :rolleyes:

    about 28% tax you are paying then.

    no idea how accurate this site is but interesting comparison to other countries.

    you are also paying superann. at 5%, also spouse & children at 1.5%

    thks for replies. returned from uk in november. thought i was on emergency tax in november until i got my p45 from uk into work before the december pay cutoff but i was paid the exact same....kind of threw me a bit. anybody would think i was bad with numbers:D
