Can i get tax relief on dental implants?

Really hope someone out there can help me with this, everyone’s saying different things and I need some sound advice.

Got two implants and a bone graft done last year, cost about €5000 and I was told I could get tax relief by the dentist’s secretary. The next time I asked at the counter a different secretary said implants didn’t count for tax relief. I decided to give it a try again and this time another person said they’d send out a med2 form to me, but it’s blank apart from my name and address.

Tried ringing the tax office about it and the first time the woman said that claiming back tax relief on dental work had nothing to do with them but was connected to social welfare. Rang again in a few days time with the same query and a different person told me that it WAS them I had to deal with but that implants didn’t count.

Since then a family friend who’s a dental nurse told me I definitely qualify for relief but need a med1 form. I’ve read the med1 and med2 forms and it seems like implants are excluded but I’ve read people on this forum saying that they’ve got tax relief on implants.

So if there’s anyone out there who’s went through this and successfully got tax relief or knows how to do it I’d really appreciate the advice, feels like I’ve hit a brick wall and I’d really like to see some money back from that 5grand.

    Cheers
