Counsellor for a minor?

    Hi guys

Hope someone can help me out here. I'm trying to find a counsellor for my 16 year old sister, but the HSE won't see her without parental consent. However, the problems she is having are a result of problems with our parents (history of domestic and alcohol abuse), and having them involved just isn't an option. I'm willing to pay for private sessions for her, but I'm wondering if this is a general rule? I know a 16 year old can see a doctor without consent, so what's the difference with a counsellor?

It's so important that she gets to talk to someone, she's in a really bad place right now.

Thanks a mil for any help with this.

Most schools can do a referal for couselling, I suggest you get yoursister to talk with her year head and if you can call into the school yourself.
