    This greeted me this morning.

A new indicator is €30+ shipping from micksgarage.

Anyone guesstimate what buff & respray would cost? The blue paint is pretty well forced in there. Is this a DIY job at all? Car is a 2000 Volvo S40 and I want to keep costs to an absolute minimum.

I hope the guy who hit me has a wonderful New Year, and I really hope he doesn't crash into a tree at high speed.

Elbow Grease will get that out fairly well.

There are plenty of detailing threads on here, find a method that suits you best. Some will say T Cut, Rubbing compound etc some will recommend other methods. But from the Pics it looks fairly doable.

Which ever you use keep the area well lubed.

Sorry to hear about your miss hap. its going around alot lately.:(

    Looks like "Hiace Blue":D

T-cut or similar rubbing compound will take the blue paint off without damaging your paint and it will look a heck of a lot better than it does now but I'd reckon you'll be left with a few dents and deep scrapes anyway.

    Thanks for the reply!

Forgive my ignorance, but if I use a rubbing compound or T-Cut does that mean I will have to respray also, or can that look okay without new paint?

    Cheers.

With this method you would be removing the layered lacquer over the paint coat so you should be able to get away without a respray, depends on how deep the scrape goes.

General rule is if you can rub your finger nail down the body without getting caught in a depp gash it should be just the lacquer coat.

Remember to lube area continiouslys It saves heating up and ruining the surrounding area.

    Its very do able.

Another option is to get a rag with some petrol on it. Rub it over the blue paint. It should come right up. A good polish afterwards and you wont know any different. Happened me before. Used a bit of petrol, it took the offending paint off. Where it was too deep, I used a touch up stick. Bit of polish/wax over it, and it looks grand. Not perfect, but it was fine for a very quick cheap DIY job.

    Thanks to all.

The petrol on a rag, elbow grease, followed up by a high quality wax have gotten rid of most of the other cars paint. Photo attached.

The dints I will leave there.

Another dumb question, regarding this indicator from Micksgarage. Am I right to assume that this will contain the reflector and bulb, and not just be the lens cover?

it wont have the bulb, but will have the reflector. micksgarage have a live chat link on their site and you can ask them on that to confirm if you wish to
