hubby was ploughed out of it on his motorbike seven weeks ago, broken legs various aches and pains. I've been worried, sympathetic, and now sick to death of him. I know I'm snapping at him and showing no support but seriously how much longer till our lives return to normal

I understand OP, my husband had a minor break lately and was off work for 3 weeks. I was close to killing him. :D Just not used to having him there during the day. You will have to hold your patience though. Is he being demanding or are you just not used to having him around the house during the day?
