I was looking at insurance quotes for a Skoda Octavia in August and they quoted me for 2,300 Fully Comp. I was looking again today and the same quote is now 12,000? Does anyone know if insurances prices have gone up?

I take it you're under 20?

If so ring around. Don't use online quoting systems. They appear to just make up figures.

Basically, you should contact them all (brokers and companys) - open the golden pages and get ringing!

Rang around and no one would quote lower then 4000. Quinn wouldnt even quote me i have to fill in a form first!!

i'm in my 20s and male, though getting into the latter portion of that.. yikes, so still pretty much a prime target for insurance rip off, but i'd say i'd have a fair shot at insuring a feckin tank for 12,000.. something wrong there for it to jump from 2300 to 12000


If there are local offices of any of the companies or brokers near you, call in and talk to them in person if you can. I've managed to insure som strange things that the online systems dont even have listed by going in and talking to the boss in my local axa office

jaysis i though insurance had gone down a lot since i start driving, when i was 20 i had a subaru impreza insured for 2000 but i had a full licence

Try Britton insurance in donegal! a friend of mine got insured on a 1.9tdi passat fully comp for 1600 euro but he had 2 years as a named driver on someone elses policy! he was only 19 aswell

also heard they were good from a friend but im getting quoted over 2grand and ive full license 2ncb on named policy on 1.4 astra?

Should have added that its an Octavia VRS, none the less they still quoted me 2300 back in August fully comp.

Could location have anything to do with it?
