Its already been discussed years ago, but has anyone any suggestions on clearing ear wax. Its pretty bad with me and gets blocked every few months. I use the spray when ever it happens, but this time it is taking longer to clear than usual.
Any suggestions are very welcome, without visiting the doctor.

Use waxol ear drops (I find they're the best ear drops). Tilt your head to the side, put the drops in, hold your head there and massage the drops into the wax then tilt your head to the opposite side and clear your ear with some cotton wool/tissue.

When it gets really bad and my hearing gets muffled I repeat this a few times over and it gradually helps to get my hearing back to normal. However, the best advice would be to get your ears syringed.

Did you try audispray?, it's not bad and may help your situation. It can be bought in most chemists.

you'll get a better job done if you get them syringed. try not to stick cotton buds into the ear canal. they're really meant to be for cleaning around the ear lobe but not the canal itself. you'll risk pushing wax back into the canal making it worse.

Go to the GP and get a prescription for ear drops.
It softens the wax and it eventually falls out after a few days and clears up.
Don't try sticking car keys or knitting needles or a clothes hanger in your ear like some people do.

Thanks for that, I just didn't realise that I had so much unused storage space.

Next time you are in the Doc, get them to look at it

I remember failing a medical once, did not notice the lack of hearing in one ear. Doc took a look, gave me drops then syringed.
The amount that came out was frightening and my hearing was pin point sharp, for a day or two afterwards.

It's amazing the big nuggets that collect in there.

The old insult 'Do you have wax in your ears?' has gained my respect.:)

Warm olive oil is pretty good for getting them unblocked.

Cerumol ear drops are pretty good.

But if ear drops or spray isnt working you're best bet is to get them syringed by your doctor. I had to get my ears syringed last year and there was a fair bit of wax came out. My hearing was a lot better afterwards though.

Earex ear drops are also pretty good.

Warm olive oil is also good.

Use the drops for a few days before going to the doc for syringing. Think they wont syringe it unless the wax has been losened by the drops so you waste a costly doc visit going twice

Olive oil is as good as ear drops - sure, Cerumol drops are essentially peanut oil! Put them in at night with wax ear plugs for a day or two and they should do the job; if not, the wax will at least be soft enough to be removable by syringing or vacuum suction. DO NOT put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear; it's just not worth it.

Does anyone happen to know if ear syringing is covered by the medical card?

Put olive oil on cotton wool and put that in your ear overnight. Big cotton wool balls that have no chance of leaving anything behind, not little ones like on the buds.
Stick your ear directly under the shower in the morning to wash it out again
    you'll be grand then
