Hi Folks, I'm wondering if anyone out there has a Ford Kuga? We are thinking of buying one in the next few weeks and wondering if anyone has experienced one or know anything about it (good or bad!) Many Thanks.

I have not seen problems on any but saying that I have not seen much of them. Just make sure its 4 wheel drive and NOT 2 wheel drive.

Can't offer anything to the OP.

However, IMO they are a far better looking machine than the Nissan Qashqai. How they are not out selling the Nissan I'll never know ! Have only seen a handful on the roads.

    Good enough reason

No 1st hand experience OP, but I do recall reading an article that slated it for rear legroom......

I have been in one briefly and thought it was a nice car.
the driver ( a car nut ) said the handling was superb and it drove as well as a focus ( I think we all know thats a good thing )
However we both noted its not a big car inside in fact I can't see it being as big as a focus.

I think they look great too by the way and shouldn't give any trouble really. Uncle Henry always looks after you !

By coincidence, today I was checking out options for replacing my Nissan x-trail. Every garage I visited hammered on about emissions and tax bands and how these were now driving consumer choice. What that meant of course was the downmarking of the trade in value of my 2.2l. I looked at a Skoda Superb Combi but pricy given the depreciation on Skodas. After taking out a Hyundai iAX 35 (2wd) a Qashqai (2wd) and a Kuga (2wd), I preferred the Kuga to drive but it is very tight on rear leg room and boot space for the price - OTT IMHO. I had a Mondeo years back and while good to drive, I was persecuted by problems with the rear bushings. So I am a bit wary of Fords. The iAX is basic enough inside and seeing out the rear window was a feat. Qashqai was nice to drive and plenty of space but like the Hyundai it seems a pricy for the trim offered. Dealer told me the 4wd iAX will arrive the 2nd week in March. Only the iAX offers a 5 year warranty. The Kuga comes with two which is extended to three, and the Qashqai has three standard.

Thinking of looking over a new Subaru Impreza but not sure what the cabin is like for height (5' 11'') and carrying four adults and a teenager. Anyone any experience?

The Impreza is a lot smaller, think old model Corolla (02-07) size
You should really be looking at the Legacy.

the kuga is also 2 litre, road tax is triple the quahqai, it's thirstier, and entry level trim is lower.

No doubt, but for the average motorist that is either well down the list or not even a factor in buying a car.

I hired one out on hols last year OP.

Had 2kms on it when i got it.
Lovely to drive, light steering, good visibility and easy on diesel.
Wouldn't mind one here but the missus isn't for swapping the 520!!

Any feedback about the back seats? I like the look of the Kuga. Very nice styling. Very pleasign on the eye. But I wondered would the back seats be a bit tight? I looked at an Impreza today. Beautiful car. But with my build, getting in and out of the driver's seat was a just slightly uncomfortable. Again I wondered if three young adults woudl cope with the back seats.
