I'm sorry... you expected more from our national broadcaster?!

It's been in the bargain bin for a long time, so must be cheap as chips used to be.

    Young people watch it.

...and the really young ones don't know that it's been repeated for years, and think that it's new. Smart thinking on RTE's part, showing what shrewd operators they are.

Of course, when the viewers get beyond the age of four, they soon realise the evil truth behind the organisation.:(

At least they are showing different episodes!
Tv3 showed Louis Theroux and the nazis for at least the 3rd time last night!! A little variation please!

I get really excited when I see Louis Theroux's programmes on air, til I realise I' ve seen it a million times already. It's ridiculous!

What i dont understand is why is it sabrina the teenage witch that has been repeated non stop for years and years? I mean there were many other popular teen shows in the 90s that have not been shown by RTE for years hang time, kenan and kel, california dreams, the girl from tomorrow, spellbinder, mirror mirror.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 229 ✭✭travellingbid

    I loved California Dreams

If anyone ever gets sick of Sabrina, they can always watch that brand-new US light-hearted detective programme "Murder She Wrote".

They made three million episodes using the same plot with different characters. What more do you want?

What happened at the very end of sabrina?? I can never remember

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,910 ✭✭✭✭RoundyMooney

The laugh track broke, and the cast, lacking the fake audience approval, suffered a mass breakdown and quit.

Harvey turned up at Sabrinas wedding on a motorcycle, and no one gave 2 sh*ts about her fiancée. Terrible stuff.

What happened her aunts anyways? They seemed to disappear? I prefer the earlier episodes when she lived at home.

It was ok, but i never found it funny....those early seasons were the best, they had alot of good guest stars though.

    Sabrina??

Ah, that show with Soleil Moon Frye!

    /drools

Seriously, whats wrong with STTW? Its actually a good show, coupled with the whole nostalgia factor.

Viewers can't get enough of it?

It's rating must be attracting advertisers?

She's hot, in an innocent sort of way?

Viewers love cats and never got the story?

    Salem was awesome!!!

Part-time Murder She Wrote fan meself. As for repeated showings of Sabrina (Sister Sister too at times) well my view is it's better than of that "kids show using combined actress-singer" sh1te Disney have been turning out these days, not that I regularly watch kids tv anymore but give me Sabrina over the Wizards of Hanna Montana's Suite life any day.

Sabrina was like a prototypical Buffy/Xena/Veronica Mars/insert strong female protagonist (+/-superpowers) here.
    I liked her. :pac::o

It was a crime to subject us to it, and it was murder to watch.

Dont know how you could have nostalgia for sabrina the teenage witch, the show has never been off air for more than 6 months on RTE 2 for the past 16 years.

Neither has Friends on E4, but we can still think back on the times when we watched it as it aired.

"Oh no! Harvey found out she's a witch", "Will Ross and Rachel get together?!!"...Ah good times :o

Yeah, she was getting married to some random character that nobody seems to be able to remember. It was just thrown in there so Harvey could save the day.

    GO HARVEY KINK!

Ah, it was a harmless show with a lot of charm. I mean, how often do we get to see the Violent Femmes on kids' TV?
In any case, by repeating the show a good decade after it is relevant, RTE are upholding a noble tradition from my own childhood, that of showing screamingly out of date US comedy during the children's TV schedules.
Back in the early 80s, tweens like me were treated to 60s favourites such as Mister Ed, My Favourite Martian (with a v dishy pre-Hulk Bill Bixby), The Partridge Family, Get Smart... It really broadened my exposure to mid-century American popular culture. No wonder I love Mad Men now
