    Right folks,

I leave for 10 weeks in SE Asia very early on Wednesday morning- 4 weeks in Thailand, 3 weeks in Laos and 2+1/2 weeks in Cambodia before heading on to Oz for a year.

Has anyone got any last minute tips for me, or suggestions as to must haves (that I might've forgotten)?

I think I have the main items covered- have a decent backpack, a few changes of clothes, my travel insurance, my guidebook and enough local currency for the first week!

A lot of people seem to say the less you bring the better, but I hope I haven't made any glaring omissions as its my first time......

nah you sound fairly sorted, all you REALLY need is a passport and money!

I presume you have all your vaccinations and stuff
you can get visas for laos and cambodia when you arrive
photocopy your passport and insurance before you go and leave a copy with someone at home just in case...!

you can pretty much pick up whatever you need then when you get there, clothes, toiletries, adapters if you're bring anything electrical with you etc
and don't forget any chargers you may need

wow, it'll be an amazing trip, make the most of it!

when you arrive in Thailand, make sure you pick up some tiger balm for those nasty mosquito bites:D

Thanks magentas - yeah I have a fairly new passport (got it in March so plenty of room for visas!) & hopefully enough cash to get me thru!

Have my vaccinations, and plenty of medicines in case I get sick thanks to my doc! Have copies of all the importart docs, and as you say I can pick up whatever else I need on the way.

I suppose cos I'm a first-timer I'm looking for reassurance but tbh I just cant wait to go now!!!

Just now there;s nothing (cept a passport!) you can't get easy in SEA. And actually you can get a passport also but not a legit one (or even a legit one with enough trouble). So basically just get on the road and don't be worrying.

After my night last night I would suggest an eye mask for dorm rooms, people like to turn on lights!
