    hi all

im new to this site so im just hoping it works !
im getting back into shooting and dont know what to buy.il mainly be rough hunting , duck pheasant etc and prob seldom shoot the odd few clays.im looking for something light and have looked at a beretta ultralight for 1100 euro s/h,lovely clean gun but ive since been told that i would be better off with a silver pigeon as it would have less recoil for clays so any info would be greatly appreciated

you'd be better off with a 682 if you're going to be doing clays...

You're on the right track with Beretta though! :D

the ultralight is too light for clays / look for a nice 686s baretta ,there is a nice one in lucan gun shop less than 1100 great all round gun and will last a lifetime as i said before they are the ak47s of the shotgun world

just another to the list :D

and another for me to go get info on but thanks anyhow cause i want to be sure i buy a gun that im happy with .
would you suggest any of the 682 models in particular as it will be mainly used for hunting:)

I only shoot clays very seldom, most of my shooting is hunting... I use a 682 Gold E. All 682's have the same workings and levels of quality, just different levels of finish.

eg, mine has laser chequering, ventilated barrels and extended chokes...

Any of the 68 series will never let you down...

    sounds nice!
thanks for simplifying that as there is so many diff models.sounds like il be doing same kind of shooting as urself so might try find a good s/h 682 and see how it feels

There're plenty of them about mate, good luck with the search. As was said above, a 686 is a great gun too...

Spend as much as you can, but don't get ripped off. My 682 for example as rocketed in value (I bought second-hand as well). So look at it as an investment rather than 'spending' money. ;)

Have a read of this thread, but definitely stay with the Beretta and the 686 or 682 are excellent guns.

I have an ultralight its true you wont be shooting my clays with it, i do a lot of rough shooting and with the ultralight at 6.5 pounds i'll put up the the lack of recoil power, i fire 34g 6's or 7's and have fired bb's, but as they say no pain no gain.

Have a 686s myself, great gun in the field you can carry it all day long no problem, also use it for doing clays.

Don't forget the good reliable browing. I have an ultra lite for game and a XSH for clays. Very happy with both.

+1 for beretta, my father has a 686e and its a smashing gun, if i ever get around to upgrading by old side by side it'll be for a 686 or a 391, i find my accuracy way better with my fathers gun than my own, i never used a 391 but mounted one in a dealers before and i felt it fitted much the same and i always had a craving for a semi auto,
