Vintage watch = second-hand watch?

Is 'vintage watch' just a new name put on products which were in the past simply and honestly called "second-hand"?

I'm looking at a 'vintage watch' and I want to know it this just a euphemism for a used/second-hand watch. It says it's a 2007 watch. Does this mean it's a 2007 model or a watch which was bought then and has been worn by somebody since?

Here's the watch in question (Gents Omega Seamaster Watch).

    Thanks.

Well the example you linked to IMHO I'd personally call used/second hand. Plus no way in hell would I pay 900 odd quid for a used quartz.. anyhoo I'd call vintage as 20 years older plus kinda thing. Im sure there's a proper definition out there.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Great. That's most helpful; thanks very much. There are, so far, two alternatives, both of which are automatic:

    1. http://www.watchesonnet.com/1502.30.html

    2. http://www.watchesonnet.com/1504.35.html

Are they good prices for those two watches? Is it worth paying the extra $700 for the second one, which as far as I can make out has '11 diamonds' as the principal/sole difference? Lastly, where in Ireland could I get the best price for an Omega watch?

    Thanks

Yea the only diff I can see are the diamonds and unless you're name is MC Yo Yo Yo then probably best avoided. :D

Second thing; I've bought online before with no problems, but I knew what I was looking for and at. Plus I was buying from EU zone retailers. If you buy from outside, like the US pretty much expect a VAT/Duty bill on top of the price. They're really cracked down on that.

Irish pricewise? TBH I dont know. From what I gather we're very expensive here. Maybe a trip to the UK on the Ryanair express? Or somewhere cheaper overall like Spain?

that was not a vintage watch, i think the model is currently in production so "vintage" is inappropriate for it.
Maybe a Seamaster 2254 might be considered as such, but it depends on the year of purchase etc..
Definitely 950 euro are a rip off for that quartz, i saw few of them in mint condition going on sale for 600 sterling on tz-uk.
The ones you have lunked above seem to be more suitable for a woman due to the diamonds and the case diameter of just 35 mm...

Just pay a visit to Dawson Jewellers 21 Dawson Street, they have a nice range of second hand Omega, although the prices are not as cheap as you could find on the web

Thanks very much to both of you. I hadn't been aware of the vat issue or of Dawson Jewellers (which doesn't appear on the Omega website) so, moving ever so slowly away from the US online shops, I think a visit to Dawson Street will be the next step. Thanks again.

If you're planning a trip to London it could be worth taking a look at watches.co.uk

For many reasons they cannot deal with overseas buyers online but they are on the District and Piccadilly line - get off at Turnham Green or Chiswick Park and take a walk to the High Street.

They can regularly get massive discount on Omegas and their second hand prices are way below Dawsons.

If you do decide to pay them a visit don't forget to bring your passport for the money laundering check.

Nice find! Never came across that site before.
I may have a saunter down there in the coming weeks. Their prices seem reasonable too.

Jon and Dee are highly recommended and he has direct contact with most of the repair shops including Rolex in Bexley if a certificate of authenticity is required.
