I sure didn't. Can't stand them, no offence to any Octavia drivers out there. The Superb is actually quite a nice big bus. I think you'd probably get one for in and around 6K too

Quickest non bmw diesel i have driven is a Kia Rio 1.5 crdi 110bhp 60mpg and go for buttons.

Please if you haven't driven one don't slag it, a real Sleeper.

You'll have to goto uk to get real value though

Ask yourself if you are doing enough mileage to justify buying a diesel. Modern diesels do not like short trips such as town driving. Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF) that burn the soot from a diesel engine get blocked if they don't have enough time burn away the soot. A blocked DPF will mean it needs to be replaced and they are expensive. Your trip from Dublin to Limerick one day a week might not be enough for a DPF to work efficently.

I would advise either stick with a petrol car or buy a diesel car that doesn't have a DPF fitted.

Something like this with a bit of comfort:

I'm looking myself for a diesel with the help of Boards:D

I find this website very useful for reviews, & facts and figures for the different engines,

I'm not sure but I think you recommended me the s40 as well, their a very nice car the more I look at them, I think their alot nicer that the newer shape.

Does anyone drive the model above and what your opinions?

I think the Alfa 156 Sportswagon 2.4JTD I picked up is a nice [diesel] drive, remaps to 200bhp (and 300ft/lb torque) and delivers near 50mpg and even sounds good.. from a 10year old diesel (a long time in diesel land) thats impressive stuff. Gotta beat the crap out of a 1.9TDI Golf anyhow. 5 cylinder engines are pretty cool too.
Cheap too to buy too and apparently a good bit more reliable than the petrol Alfas. One of the reasons the older Alfa punches above its weight vs the VAG and BMW models of the time is it was the first Common Rail diesel on the market.

The plastics and assembly dont feel up to the German standard, but the engine and handling especially are excellent.
