iTouch 4G suddenly refuses to slot into dock

Got an iTouch 4G from Santa (via a friend in the US) and I bought a set of three dock adapters (No. 20) from the local Apple Store as I have a Revo iBlik and a Pure Siesta iDock.

The iTouch 4G docked in the two gadgets no bother up to a few days ago but suddenly it refuses to slot fully into the dock adapter, I can feel it go part of the way but with the same amount of (gentle) force as before it refuses to go all the way and will not connect.

I have a Nano 1G and my old iTouch 2G and both of these can still dock no problem in the two radios so the issue is definitely with the new iTouch 4G, it will still take the standard USB cable so I can sync and charge with the laptop but I now cannot dock with the two gadgets. I shone a torch into the interface slot on the iTouch but there's no obvious bent pins and anyway as the USB cable connects no problem I didn't expect to see any twisted metal.

Has anyone seen this problem before and any suggestions as to any repair centre who who be able to tackle it? The iTouch has had no rough treatment and no drops, it's only three weeks old and was purchased in Boston, will I be able to get it repaired here under warranty?
