    Hi There,
    I am running a Webcam.
Right at this moment you can view it at:
    http://83.71.111.219:3774/
However my ip address changes every now and then and i have to change the ip address on my website for people to connect to the webcam.
Its really frustrating to say the least.
I need a static ip address.
    I have the voyager 2110.
Is there a way to set up a static ip myself or do i need to ring eircom?
Is there a charge for this or is it a very easy task to do?
    Thanks
    Nick

As far as I know, you can get a static ip on the business packages only.

When I was a bit younger I used to host game servers off my PC but having a dynamic IP made it difficult.

At the time I used a free service that basically gave me a hostname like for example "http://thiswebsite.com:35622" and it would never change, and the a piece of software ran on my PC with the dynamic IP and would update the website as to my IP so when people would go to join a game the IP/hostname would always be the same.

It would work like they put in "http://thiswebsite.com:35622" and get redirected to my ip.

I can't for the life remember what it was called, but I reckon http://www.no-ip.com/ do something similar?

    Hope that helps!

This was one of the reasons (There were many others:D)I moved from Eircom.
When I enquired I was told you must have business broadband (dearer ofcourse:rolleyes:)
And then a charge as well.
Your Options would be Smart who do charge a much more reasonable rate of €5 per month.
Many of the wireless providors do give you a static IP. Not sure of which ones though.
UPCs IPs rarly change. It is not listed as fixed ,so if they do change it they are doing nothing wrong. However mines & many customers of mine, have been using it for months with out the IP ever rolling.
