Gloves in Pennys

Does anyone know of any Pennys branches in Dublin which currently have gloves in stock? I was in town today, and apparently the O'Connell Street and Henry Street stores are both 'sold out'.

I'm a little skeptical of the 'sold out' line, given that all gloves disappeared from stores around last Christmas, too, but maybe I'm just being too cynical!

Anyway, I'm looking for their '2 pairs of gloves in one' (i.e. the fingerless gloves over the full gloves) that they had for the last few years. I got snowed in at home for the last month and couldn't get up to Dublin until now. :(

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If there's a Tescos near you that sells clothes (there's on in Jervis street) they have them too ;)

I'll be in Penneys in Dundrum in the morning, I'll let you know if I see them :)

Everywhere seemed to be sold out of gloves during Christmas.

Apparently they had lots of them in stock around 20-22 Dec (my OH was in there and saw them, but didn't think to get me any even though I'd been talking about them for ages! :( )

I'm just surprised that two very large Pennys stores are sold out of every type of glove that they stocked this winter.

When I'm in Dublin I'm based in the city centre, but Dundrum wouldn't be too inconvenient to get to, either. Or Rathfarnham SC.

Ooops, missed this first time 'round. Thanks for that. Didn't realise Tesco had them, too! I'll get himself to take a look when he's in town again (I'm back home again now).

I'm no help but those gloves are amazing! I have a pair from two years ago and I bought some expensive nice cashmere ones this year that only lasted a couple of weeks before ripping and they were no-where near as warm as the penneys gloves, I'll know where to buy from again!

A shop makes no profit from hiding bestselling stock, they do mean sold out. Not really a major surprise, I worked in a flagship Dunnes for years, this year as soon as it got cold the gloves were just flying out, literally you'd sell 2 in 10 minutes on tills. They kept selling out. Basically, if a shop has no scarves, hats, gloves in winter, it's because they've gone and they're awaiting a new delivery, although winter season stock is coming to an end for retailers. Anyway, hope you find them. One idea would be to get in there early on delivery days- I know Tuesday is one (Penneys mary street but I'd imagine for all dublin region anyway), I'm guessing Thursday and Saturday would be the others, which would follow Dunnes patterns. No harm ringing them up and asking if and when they expect them to come back in. Unfortunately winter stuff may be low on the list of priorities now spring stock is around the corner.

We get a delivery every day except Monday and Sunday :)
I can't confirm this for definite but I don't think we'll get more of them in in any of the branches where they're sold out. The summer stock is starting to come in now so it's not very likely that they'll fill back up the winter stuff. But as I said, I can't confirm it!

could you ring round the different pennys that are close to you and see if they have them in stock ? am sure some places are bound to still have them

having worked in a pennys store i know they get stock daily and in the two stores you mentioned they get up to 3 massive deliveries a day, one of the problems they suffer from though is that when things sell well they are unable to keep up with demand and the staff place the orders but they simply are unable to get the stock. Its not that they are hidding it from you :D.

they just cant get it. believe me they would much rather have the stock also as then people dont keep asking about the same stuff which tends to happen.

its just a bit of bad stock management

No luck in Dundrum, they had no gloves left whatsoever, sorry :(

I saw gloves like the one you describe in Dunnes today. If you have a dunnes near you maybe call in and see.

Loads of them in Mary Street OP!! :) Black and grey/silver

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,339 ✭✭✭convert

Thanks for all the help everyone. My OH picked me up a couple of pairs in the Mary St branch today :) (despite two staff members insisting that they didn't have them (or any gloves) in stock!).

    Anyway, I'm a happy punter, now... :D

Oh, and if anybody else is looking for them, there's still a good stock of them in the Mary St branch!

I bought a pair of gloves in the Gt Outdoors shop, Chatham st, off Grafton st. They are really warm and hard wearing. I'd recommend you take a trip up there.
