Speedo reverting to mph

So, I've got a digital display on a 04 Suzuki liana. I've had it 4 years but noticed this January that if the night time temperature goes below about -8 the speedo in the morning will have changed from kph to mph. I can change it back and it will hold until the next very cold night. It happened there again in December every morning for a few weeks, now temps have risen it's back holding kph again.
Car is running fine and it's not a major issue but I just wondered why

Is the battery in your car ok? If it's weak, the effort taken to crank the car at those low temps might cause the power to drop low enough to cause your dash to forget its settings and revert to their defaults.

ill take a stab at this, could it be the frost effecting your battery, which would lower the voltage's making your car think the battery was removed or gone flat, so it reset's itself to factory settings? did you have to reset the time on the car aswell? if it has a clock?

Clock is fine and car started easily throughout cold mornings. It was changed before the engine turned over- just as I'd turned the key but before the engine fired. It first happened at the start of the year so if it was the battery is it likely I'd have got to the end of the year with it??

yea id say there is a tiny blip in the power supply as all the unnecessary power draws are cut off to get the first crank of the engine over.
