have been looking at used Mk VI GTI on carzone

A lot of them have POA which I assume to mean Price on Application. This is something house sellers were doing when they didn't want to advertise a lowered price - is that the case here or is there some trick I am missing?

Interested in this one as I need five doors

Will be trading in a 07 TT with about 50k on the clock. Any ideas on a ballpark cost to change?

its also a way to get people to 'fall in love' with a car before they find out the hefty price tag. i asume a good price for that car would be in the mid twentys?

Mid twenties would be a good price for that car, realistically it's gonna be early thirties surely?

Including trade in of an 07 TT?

Obviously not, are you saying mid twenties with the TT?
25K wont buy that car on a cash deal, 25K with a TT, are you trying to give the OP a stroke!

    M

She's a bit of a poverty spec model, no radio controls on the steering wheel that's on most of the MKVI.

Good spot, thought MFSW was standard on MKVI GTI
Don't like the black on black look.
A gti with a gti styling pack, I should hope so!

    To answer the original question:
Without having any details on the TT....
Based on paying full price for the golf and getting rode on your trade in I'd have a stab in the dark at 12-15K.

Sorry - yeah it was the black five door one

I would change if it was region of 10k but 15k to change then forget about it and I will just go for a nice spec MKV or other option was a 2008 S3 but I really need five doors for getting kid in and out.

Seems to be a big variety of prices on the MK VI with prices from 29k to 37k.

Apparently there will be a MK VII along in 2013 and that MK VI is really only a glorified facelift model with some tweaks so reluctant to push boat out for a new model that is only going to be current for two years.

You could change to a Late MKV for little to nothing.
There is not enough difference between the V and VI golf to justify
the extra cost, the VII is due out in 2012 and is a new car from the ground up. Like I said, figure was a stab in the dark, gotta be worth a phone call.

What spec, colour is your TT, would you try selling it private?

S3 sportback? Bigger than a 5 door Golf, but a damned bit more expensive...

not much bigger (if at all), but nicer engine, interior and 4wd. Little or none of them around to chose from second hand though.

Yeah might try but seems to be difficult to sell cars privately these days especially at price points above 10k or so as people spending that money want some come back and seem to prefer to deal with garage.

Scuba blue, alcantra, audi bluetooth,MFSW, cruise control

Might look at a MKV - had one previously and loved it

I generally ignore adverts that have POA instead of the price. If a seller cannot be arsed or is scared advertising the price then I could not be arsed enquiring about it.

OP, some alternatives, how about a brand new Skoda Octavia vRS:

    or Seat Leon FR:
