What would an internal stop cock look like?

    The downstairs loo and handbasin fill from the mains. As does the washing machine thats under the stairs. The kitchen sink is at the very back of the house.


    I think the mains might be coming into the house from the front, and the stop cock is not under the sink. No immediate sign of it there anyhow.

    There is some plastic covering the pipes in the downstairs loo. If I open them up to look at whats underneath, how would I know whats a stopcock :o?

    The house is 10 years old.
