Laptop hard drive

    Hi wondering if you could help

    my sister for the second time in 3 months das dropped her laptop this time i think it's gone no power in the battery and it is not taking a charge from the mains, tried it with out the battery and no joy!!

    i am looking for an adapter so i can take the hard drive out of hersand connect it to mine to get all the files off, any one know where to get one??


    any help would be great

    Laptop is prob fine. If it was pluged in when dropped the charger is either broken or the power jack is broke. Very rarely does a laptop not power up once dropped.

    It might have a broken screen or the hdd might be fecked but it should turn on still and try to boot up.

    That's why I think it charger/dc jack

    As for data transfer I'm in new Ross so can't help but I do offer that service.

    Replacemnet charger on eBay €15 but make sure she pays other wise she will have no respect for it

    go to maplin buy a hdd caddy

    take out the 2.5" drive from the laptop and put it into the caddy


    connect caddy to a new machine via usb/firewire/whatever

    save all data from broken laptop as necessary

    Thanks for the reply yeh It was only a quick look at the laptop to get it working will have a good look at it soon.

    Yeh the caddy is what a am looking for handy to have in the event of other issues or what not so cheers

    dont buy one in maplin robbing prices


    you can get one of these on ebay and they will work with both ide and sata.
