Water cut off from 9pm to 9am

No different than any other county council, we are affected by this. I have managed to have water over the freeze. So now with the restrictions, no flushing of loos at night time and no use of water from tank until the restriction is lifted.

So the water came back to the mains, pressure somewhat down. so I flush the toilet upstairs and listen for the tank to fill in the attic. There was a sound I hadn't heard before like a slight, not very loud thud? Would it be that the pressure is down up there or the ballcock is stuck?

I have the attic door open and I can hear the tank slightly filling. I am about to ask my good neighbour to take a look into tank. I have water coming from the cold taps and hot taps in the bathroom and en-suite.

I need to flush another loo.........can I go ahead?

Check the water level in the tank to see what the state of affairs is up there before you flush.

OK. Will do. Would the fact that the pressure is down mean that the water is having difficulty getting to the tank?

    Does this solve itself eventually?

Kindly neighbour just checked tank in attic and they are OK. He says that as it was the first use of the tank after the water rationing it could have been airlocked and the sudden gush out of the tank and then filling again at low pressure.

He himself has his own problems as last night he was checking the downstairs hotpress and it was flooded. He says that his rads were seriously hot last night and they were drying clothes on them so it must be a thermostat problem? He has his nephew plumber with him at the moment so it is getting sorted!

Jeez, nothing but problems but the only good thing out of it is the helpful neighbours we have found over this big freeze!
