    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can advise me on a few questions.

Who has more power within a charity is it the CEO or the chairman?

If it is the chairman how do you contact them? They only drop in every while to pick up post but everytime i leave something for the chairman it is opened by the CEO and i dont know if the chairman is even receiving it

    Cheers

The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and is usually responsible for the day to day running of the organisation.

The Chairperson chairs the meetings of the Board of Directors and is the highest office in any organisation. However, in many organisations, the Board just run the organisation from meeting to meeting and have little or no input into the daily running of the oraganisation - they delegate that job to the CEO.

So, in theory the Chairperson outranks the CEO but, in practice, the CEO calls the shots!

Best thing is to find out the home address of the Chairperson and send correspondence to his/her home address. You can be pretty sure that it will be received by the Chairperson rather than the CEO!

the charity will be registered with CRO. Just go to www.cro.ie and company search your chaity. Do a company print out (costs €2.50 by credit or laser card) and his/her home address should be listed.
