GSF(german, swedish, french) autoparts in dublin or any decent motorfactors will get you a spurious one for handy money.

Don't waste your money on any of te cheap ones on eBay. Replace with exactly the correct part, this is one of the most critical sensors in the engine...

No worries, any decent supplier can get you a bosch air flow meter, bosch make the original part for opel but you'll pay twice the price for it in an opel box.

+1 for GSF. I bought most of my VAG stuff from them when I lived in Ireland. Great guys, know their stuff, have the stuff and have reasonable prices.

Have you scanned with a VAG-COM cable? These parts are often replaced just to find out it wasnt at fault.

Huge problem with 1.6 Golfs is a dirty throttle body. clean that first

What actually happening with the car?

If you get the Bosch PN and search you can sometimes pick up a bargain on eBay. But true, do not buy the non-Bosch (or Hitachi pending model) unit.

I tried one of the "just like OEM" no name ones out a while back and the unit read so incorrectly the car would not even start (just crank) with it connected!
