I had dispute wit paypal b4. Bought a cd player for car, seller said it wud fit most bmw's, turned out it wud only fit the 1 series. Kind of the same situation, paypal wanted 3rd party opinion. I brought it to bmw garage & got written opinion from them stating exactly which bmw it fits. You could probably get a written opinion from computer specialist. It didn't cost me anything was simple enough, and its easier than arguing with paypal cos that will just annoy you & you won't get anywhere, been there!!

On a separate note but what would stop someone from receiving a legit item and then handing over a $2 HK fake import to the retailer for “proof” it was a fake for a full refund?

Note I'm not saying it is the case for the OP (most DVDs tend to be fake on Ebay) but more in a general curious way.

This is exactly why buyers generally win disputes.

Why would they put the closure date back, I'm shock to be honest. Anyway, you should report the listing as counterfeit to ebay and leave negative feedback. This happened to me before with a counterfeit copy of a dvd video, I opened a dispute and he said he would refund me if I sent it back, but the price for registerd post was 80% of the cost of the item, so I just kept it. And my report to ebay returned a message from ebay a few weeks later that someone else was using his account. So these guys can definitely do this and get away with it.

I'd suggest to stick with established ebay shops for items like this because they work hard for their feedback. People always ask whats the point of leaving good feedback only to receive good feedback, well I suppose this is a good example.

How do PayPal know the OP didn't take the picture himself and has the real disc hiding somewhere trying to scam the seller?
