I was thinking of changing my heating in my sitting room from an open fire to a stove of some sort. After the last couple of weeks with the open fire on 24/7 i've made a big hole in my turf shed.

Is it difficult to convert an open fire to a stove and what sort of expense am i looking at. The fire opening is a standard one

    Thanks

You may get better responses in diy, but for a start, there is the cost of the stove, and you will most likely need a new chimney liner, so don't expect too much change from €1000 before labour. Thats just a guess though. not to mention the redecoration costs for around the fireplace etc....
