    Future Champions

    Zaidpour.

    Dial-a-Bet

Golden Silver looks a great bet for me especially as Colm Murphy has come out with an excuse before the race. The racing today will have cut up the track playing into Golden Silvers hands (unless theres fresh ground).

Stan James have it right imo with Big Zeb 7/4 and Golden Silver 6/4. Maybe 13/8 each is fair. Thats writing off Captain Cee Cee and thats probably dangerous but he is all but unbackable with his problems and the ground.

    Paddy Power Chase

Some field here but theres one that sticks out at me at a price (I know they're all "a price" when its 10/1 the field!!). Its one I've backed before but I'm keeping this potentially embarrassing information to myself for now until I get a good root through the runners.

    Festival Hurdle

Hurricane Fly is the winner if he arrives with no problems after his latest effort. Of course Solwhit ran iin the same raace but hes used to the 2m4f trip, prefers conditions to be testing and has more than one race this season. Hurricane Fly is vulnerable to the bounce factor. Couldn't entertain the 4/6 available.

Golden Silver can be got at 2/1. Am I the only one who'd be on Captain Cee Bee?Looking forward to Zaidpour. Think I like Araucaria in the listed race.

Captain Cee Bee travels so well he has to have a chance.

Why in the world would Hurricane Fly be susceptible to the bounce factor, I have no idea why you would think that.

Can't believe the price of the Captain. Very excited to see Hurricane Fly aswell,I fancied him for the Champion Hurdle before the start of the season, but can't really back him odds on against a horse as good as Solwhit, will be a cracking race though.

Id probably go with Golden Silver on the ground but its not a backing race imo.

No reason Hurricane Fly should bounce or any reason why Solwhit should reverse the form unless the ground is shockingly bad.

I think Zaidpour may well win tomorrow over 2m but Hidden Cyclone is a serious horse also. Probably needs a bit further but Hanlon says he's better than Luska Lad. I've taken some big prices for the 2m 5 Cheltenham novice hurdle

Anyone going to have a crack at the Paddy Power Chase? Only 28 runners so should be a gimmie..

I have about 6 so far. Theres more chance of that figure rising than falling. :pac:

He'd have to be better than Luska to live with Zaidpours potential. "Better than Luska" doesnt really breed confidence in this race.

Not doing any bets, waiting on a cheque to come through.
The ones I've picked out are:
    Tavern Times 5/1 win 11.50
    Araucaria 12.20 each way 12/1
Hard to look past Zaidpour in the next
Captain Cee Bee is a huge price at 7/2 in my opinion,I'd back him in the chase.
I'm a huge Hurricane Fly fan, butcouldn't have him at 4/7. Just for value I'd be on Solwhit at 2/1.
Cannot believe the price of Catch Me in the big handicap chase, 20/1 each way for me thank you very much.I'd do Hangover each way aswell at 22/1,I've backed him a few times and placed.
Politoe at 25/1 in the next looks one of the most over priced horses I've ever seen. Each way value there.
Sydney des Pictons each way in the last at 16/1,but wouldn't be the biggest fan of backing bumpers, but looks unexposed and made a nice debut.

If Ruby was fit today would he have to ride Big Bucks at newbury of would he be at Leopardstown?

Big Zeb out jumped Golden Silver if you ask me. Every chance and its clear which is the best horse but BZ was beatable today if GS could have jumped better and attacked him beforee the last

Stewards House in the PP Chase - if he stays

Dissappointed with Captian Cee Bee today. Nicholls had a great day. Lots of fingers burnt with Zaidpour and Punchestowns beat, there would have been a lot of big money trebles on big bucks and them.

Up to Ruby. He rides wherever he wants.
That's one of the perks of being one of the best :D

I see Mikael D'Haugenet is 4/6 for Tomorrows novice chase, Should it be straight forward enough? Thinking of Lumping

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 131 ✭✭Joncol

V difficult to see Mikael getting beat if he stands up. Loosen My Load is a nice horse with a good future but that future is over further than tomorrows trip and this seems to be plan B for him.

today thursday looks a good day for favourite backers

Looks like a bookies benefit day as far as my bets went. Down and out for the day, just a watching brief left:mad:

Poor from MD, not sure if he retains his ability now or not.

    V dissapointing alright

He beat Realth Dubh over hurdles easily, he also beat Pandorama over hurdles, the list goes on. Either not the same horse he was or just not a chaser.

Personally I would go back to hurdles and go for the World Hurdle

I think that puts all thoughts of the Arkle out the window. Bookies apparently took a fortune of bets in on him for that last night,12/1 was best price before the race,as high as 20/1 now, with firms still updating prices. RSA I'd imagine,or maybe the 2 and a half mile novice, isn't that the new race they added? Not a grade one though from what I remember

Agreed - maybe a slight bounce factor though??

What I didn't like about it was his jumping. He jumped out to the right the whole way around and got in close to a couple of them too.

Hard to have confidence in him now having been beaten comprehensively today.

He just didn't look like a horse that was in love with the game. Very different animal to the one we saw previously.

    Surely back to hurdles?

I wouldn't be too quick to switch. Don't think he wanted a short a trip today. He was about to win the Drinmore over 2 and a half,I'd send him at that next.

V true, he jumped out to the right all the way down the back

He always looked like a horse that was going to make a top chaser.

He more than likely was going to win the Drinmore. Maybe the trip might have been an issue today but if he was a top Grade 1 horse then he should have dispatched the field today. Okay Realth Dubh is a good horse but I don't think he's an Arkle horse.

It's always unfortunate when you see a horse that had so much potential go wrong.

Did jump out to the right, could have been a bounce factor, shocking ground, trip wasnt ideal.

Im hoping Mullins can get him back on track but i wouldnt be backing him till i see some improvement.

That's true, but every horse is entitled to a bad day. Didn't Pandorama have a bad day in the Hennessy? I wouldn't count the Drinmore as a bad day either,a good horse can fall,it only takes a little mistake, just one. Hopefully he'll bounce back next time over further.

The time was only 6 seconds over standard. It was a fast time considering the ground - the closest to the standard time for the whole festival.

I wanted to back Realt Dubh ew but kept putting the wrong stake in and having to jugggle the free bet button...

another bookies benefit day, empty pockets:mad:
