Your body has a built in detox system = your liver and kidneys. Silly idea on nothing but fruit and veg with juice for 3 days, ditto to the patches.

If you want to speed up your metabolism - exercise. The more active you are and more lean tissue you have, the higher your metabolic rate.

If you really need detox - then clean eating - lots of lean meat and fish (oily fish been the best), lots of green veggies and nuts. Lots of proteins, healthy fats and some complex carbs. Within a week you will be feeling a million times better. There is no quick fix that lasts.

Fruits and vegs is a great idea but your body might be not used to eating like that so maybe adding some grain-like foods (millet, quinoa, buckwheat, brown rice) with steamed vegetables and a fresh salad on a side would be a better option. And dried fruits and nuts instead of sweets.

thanks for your help. Im going to try just eat simple unprocessed foods, plenty of fruit, veg, water, no dairy, porridge for brekkie, soups/ salads for lunch and planty of veg and a chicken breast for dinner.we'll see how long this lasts :)

As above your body is a great detoxer and even just taking the pressure off it (no caffine, alcohol, sugar, dairy and wheat) + lots of good healthy fruit and veg & LOADS of water will make a difference. If you are looking for something more specific CNM the college of naturopathic medicine are running a guided detox.

Here's to happy healthy New Year! :)
