It's a '96, in the highest tax band and about to run out of tax by the end of the week.

As such it's pretty sale proof. Also there is no mention of mileage.

The price could well be real

Yeah, nice motor , shame about the tax and ins. Tax for six months probably dearer than the car :D Priced to sell and thats about the value of it in todays market.

If it's a 96 then the NCT should expire in an even numbered year like 2010 or 2012, not the middle of 2011. I don't think it could be an import with a reg like 96 D 32005.

no mention of mileage, id say its a former taxi that has to be not a taxi by january , price is low but id say it easily has 150-200k miles on it

Urban Legend. Mercedes parts are cheaper than parts for Toyotas, Fords or Renaults for example.

A lad at work has a W210, absolute rustbucket, tax is going to be the same for anything over 3 litres so for 150 quid more you could buy a proper Merc.:D

insurance companies seem to live on the planet of let me have a brand new 3 litre 4x4 and put down my mileage as 35,000 miles a year with 1000 euro of audio gear declared for 1700 a year fully comp

but if i want a 1999 2 litre 5 series then itll be 3500 euro tpf&t and if i want a 2001 6 litre merc to do less than 10k km a year its 13 grand...

Performance old boy, the D Max is no rocket. 130 odd bhp hauling it about. A 1999 520i could get to 120mph and cruise at that without straining itself.

Edit, after some googling it seems that my ole Merc 250d is about the same performance wise as a D Max. lol
