When im at home im always connected to the internet via Wifi, which is great, but when im out and about obviously it connects via 3g, but im wondering am i being charged by the mb/gb for browsing facebook/twitter etc via 3g, or does it come out of my free mobile internet allowance?
Im not on a contract, but i get free vf to vf calls and texts and free mobile internet if i top up by €30 per month, but i dont know if that mobile internet is the same as internet on an iPhone, i vaguely remember reading something here about it, and it wasnt the same thing, that the iPhone doesnt connect via VF live! or something?

Should add that my iPhone was bought direct from apple, so has no VF software or preferences uploaded.

    Thanks

it more than likely has vodafone carrier bundle though, to check
go to settings>general>about, scroll down to carrier and see what it says
also if ya can check what apn its using, settings>general>network>cellular data network

    Carrier is vodafone IE 9.0

When i go to settings>general>network there is no cellular data network, only Enable 3G -on/off, Mobile Data- on/off, Data Roaming - on/off, Internet Tethering- on/off, VPN, and Wifi

yeah ya have the vodafone carrier bundle installed, come carriers restrict the ability to edit the apn so thats why cellular data isnt there
best thing is to ring vodafone and ask them

Yes, browsing the web on the iPhone and internet use by any apps is covered under the free mobile internet. Bear in mind it's only 30 days from your top up that you have it for before you will need to top up again, and you only get 250MB allowance free, after which the normal 99c/50MB per day will apply. If you mostly use WiFi though you will probably never use more than 250MB.

Sign up for vodafone 360. You get 200 mb per day for about 39c if I remember right. But you need to ring them up about t.

Vodafone 360 offer ends on the 31st December 2010.
Whether it will be extended again remains to be seen.

Im thinking i might sign up to one of the VF Simply plans eventually, but i'll see how i go on using my free mobile internet first, see if that is what im using when im connecting via 3G.
