Get a good program going in your gym, throw in some conditioning work and improve your diet.

If you only have a few months, I would concentrate on the above and use yoga as something to help you relax and recover from your workouts.

From what I read bikram yoga is pretty intense and don't know if I would be feeling relaxed after it!! My new moto today is nothing tastes as good as skinny feels, not in a not eating way but when i look at the stash of chocs, crisps and drinks sitting in front of me here, it's very hard to resist!! Trying to stick to 3 healthy meals and healthy snacks we'll see how it goes!!

Bikram yoga is excellent for toning up and getting rid of excess weight IMO, not mention all the other benefits... The €49 offer they do is also very good value for money. Be warned though the class is really tough - if you can do 2 or 3 (or ideally more) classes per week then the weight will fall off you in no time. If you are feeling really brave and have the time you could try the "Bikram challenge" which is to do a class each day for 30 days.
Another tip is to not eat within 90 mins of the start of a class

I know girl who did it for a month and she didn't lose any weight from what I could see. Maybe in conjunction with a good gym program it would be of some benefit, but I'd rather sweat my way through conditioning in an airy gym than be roasted out of it like a turkey in an oven at a bikram session.

I've had great results with gaining extra muscle, toning and of course increased flexibility.
But I guess people are different - in my case any excess weight disappears in no time...although I'm fairly skinny in the first place... and I do sweat like its going out of fashion (which ain't pretty)

I'm 2 days away from completing this. I'm not there yet, but so far it's been amazing!

as someone who has been doing bikram on an off fore the last few years, I have to say I found it very very tough the first few times.

I went back to it there last week, and I have to say it was the easiest session ive ever done.
I was nowhere near perfect in all the postures but i was better than i remember being before, especially on the single leg postures and I put that down to all the single leg exercises that have been in my programme for the last while.

Bikram, like martial arts, and like gym work, is something you'll get more out of the more you can do it.
2-3 yoga sessions per week would be ideal.

Ill be trying for 2 yoga sessions, 2 strength sessions and 2 conditioning sessions a week for the next few weeks and will see how that goes.

Well done, it's one helluva tough challenge.... it must feel like hell on earth to do a Bikram class when you're having an off day and feeling like you have no energy

Many. I feel great and haven't touched my asthma inhaler in a month. It's been a while since I could say that. After class I feel on a real high, I mean AMAZING. Although sometimes my lack of fitness and the classes collide and I feel exhausted afterwards. But they are getting less and less.

I blogged about doing the 30 day challenge here and about some of the changes here.

Today will be the 30th class in the 30 days. I'm glad I've done it but I can't wait to do it then go again tomorrow!
