Boardwalk Empire & The Walking Dead for me...

For me it'd be Boardwalk Empire followed by Nikita & The Walking Dead tied for second place. Probably put No Ordinary Family after those.

Spotted that alright, maybe the mods can insert something else?

The Trip and Rev easily the two best British comedies of the year. :)

The Walking Dead, Spartacus, Nikita and Haven for me.

I voted Haven, it's my favorite out of the lot.

Should The Pillars Of The Earth and The Pacific really be poll options? Don't get me wrong, both were great shows, but are one off kind of series. The poll strikes me more as for shows that aim at running long term?

Men of a certain age is 2009 too

Surprised with how many voted Spartacus. I enjoyed the series but thought is way over the top and nothing more than a turn-off-your-brain type series.

It doesn't pretend to be anything else and thats why its awesome.

Definitely Treme anyone know when it's back?

Didn't enjoy Tréme. I don't like jazz and it never grew on me. A shame as I'm a big fan of David Simon.
Only just started on 'Boardwalk Empire'. Really like what I've seen so far so it may be a serious contender. From the valid choices above, I'd go with Spartacus.

Had to go with the Walking Dead.
But having said that, I've heard great things about Boardwalk Empire, Terriers, Lost Girl and Spartacus, so gotta check them out soon.

Justified closely followed by Raising Hope for me

Has to be Spartacus for me. Just such an epic show.

Boardwalk Empire and Walking Dead very close tho.

Sherlock got my vote as it was excellent entertainment and a damn good modern reworking of the SCD original.

    Honourable mentions to

Spartacus was good brain dead fun with dodgy CGI at times but hey we got to see Lucy Lawless's baps :)

Raising Hope has me and the missus chuckling quite a bit as well.

    One of the exceptions is.....

The Walking Dead would get my vote for the biggest disappointment. After an excellent opening it just kind of fell flat.

Rubicon was the most beguiling and interesting thing commited to television this year, but obviously it was about as attractive to advertisers as a bag of rotten fruit.

Broadwalk Empire would easily be number two for me and it's probably one of the most fully formed shows to come along in a good while. The setting gives the story a real timeframe, my only wish is that they briskly move through the decade or so of prohibition and the ultimate decline of Atlantic City.

The Walking Dead is a good show with a boatload of potential and the only other show that started this year that I've seen that deserves a mention. It flirted with brilliance (those first two episodes in their enterity) and badly excuted ideas (blinding white light, the boat scene, the shower montage). Defintitely looking forward to the second season, though.

I voted for Misfits even though I knew it was 2009. I have only seen 1.5 eps of Bordwalk Empire and everything else on the list that I've seen is seriously underwhelming.

Lost Girl for me with honourable mention to Nikita and Haven. didn't feel Walking Dead was anything special, didn't live up to the hype after the pilot imo.

If you got past the jazz in Treme, it was a lovely character piece with such great acting. There's one scene I'll always remember and thats
after John Goodman's character committed suicide and his wife is walking, I think as part of the black woman's son's funeral, and there's just so much emotion playing under her face

This is the clip I was referencing in the spoiler tags.
2:16-2:34 - just think how her face changes is just superb

i gave it to Spartacus, thought it was excellent, started off very average but after 3 episodes i was hooked and the show got better with each passing episode, the prequel and season 2 have a lot to live up to, hope they can pull it off with andy whitfields replacement,

im still working my way through Boardwalk Empire, tbh i havent seen anything epic from it, ill still watch what i have backed up,

honorable metion i suppose goes to, Haven, Nikita, and Hawii Five-0 which for some reason has no votes, seeing as it averages 10 million viewers in the US i thought it might get midtable,

thought the biggest dissapointment was The Pacific, the show probably suffered more from the 2-3 year hype surrounding it, with people expecting BoB in the pacific, i just didnt like the format they chose, they should have followed a company like in BoB, it wasnt tripe by any means, and i do plan on a rewatch at some point in the next year, but it sadly didnt live up to expectations, on the first watch anyway,

    Treme, by a long way.

    Boardwalk Empire in second.

I also enjoyed Nikita, Hawaii Five-0, and RJ Berger but they're not in the same league. Walking Dead was a terrible disappointment after a brilliant first episode.

I watched a bit of Spartacus because of people raving about it on here. What a load of sh1te. I can get my soft porn elsewhere.

In fairness Hawaii 5-0 has been rubbish the last few episodes, just because 10 million Americans watch isn't a reflection on quality!:D

Thank you OP for starting the thread! I've been meaning to catch up on some shows and the poll gives me a place to start, think I might get started on Treme tonight :)

Out of what I have seen though, I'd have to give it to Spartacus. I watched the first episode and had to laugh tbh, it was so overly cheesy with poor CGI and soft porn, and none of this in a good way, but I decided to give it a chance and I'm glad I did because it turned out to be absolutely fantastic, as good as if not better than 'Rome' imo.

2nd place goes to The Walking Dead for it's sheer awesomeness.
3rd place goes to Boardwalk Empire, which would rank higher if it didn't move at such a snail's pace.

Fecks sake, Misfits is skewing the poll...it's a 2009 show, i'm rendering the votes for that show INVALID!, so don't waste your time voting for it.
