So I get a PS3 120gb for Christmas but its not the slim one. Should I exchange it for the slim? Is there much of a difference? I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks

No major difference except for the physical appearance. Keep it!

Well the slim models are ment to be better built and more energy efficient! If you get a bargain go for it!
